Thank you very much for taking the pain and trouble to write the comprehensive guide for beginners like me who can’t read Chinese.
Is there any way I can change the URL from world.taobao.com to taobao.com in Singapore? I have tried many times but it will change to the former by default. It’s frustrating!
Reason for the change is there are more things that interest me there and there is a drastic difference in prices between the two websites.
Appreciate your advice.

I did change the country and the URL is world.taobao.com
When I change the country to Mainland I see more interesting stuff on taobao.com but there is no provision for shipment out of China.
I have installed the “淘宝” app on my phone but like you have said it is for domestic users.
Oh well 🙁
