HK resident here. Taobao locked me out of my account …

Comment on How To Register And Verify Your Alipay Without Chinese Bank Account by TK.

HK resident here. Taobao locked me out of my account and wants me to follow the ID verification process using information it never previously asked for during my Taobao account registration, nor input into my account since registering. Following instructions, Taobao gives me three options for ID verification:
》Use my Mainland resident ID (don’t have one).
》Use my Mainland Tavel Pass (don’t have one)
》Use my passport (I assume I can use my HKID for this, but I still have a UK passport if not)

So I click to use my passport, and it takes me to AliPay, so I registered a new account there. But AliPay ALSO wants me to carry out the same ID validation process. Except AliPay doesn’t give me the option of using my passport, only a Mainland Resident ID or Mainland Travel Pass.

This happened only within a couple of days of making my first Taobao purchase (which was paid for in full already, item fees and direct shipping costs), so I’m worried my stuff is going to be withheld and that I just got screwed out of my money.

What do I do?
